ARIN Intermediate Unit is offering a one-day training, Co-Teaching in the Classroom, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 9:00am-3:00pm at the ARIN office. This training is recommended for all teachers; however, districts are encouraged to send co-teaching partners. This training will focus on the different models of co-teaching and the pros and cons associated with each model. It will help teachers to determine the best model to use in their classrooms. We will look at ways to best utilize all professionals (teachers and support staff) in a classroom in order to actively engage learners and meet the needs of every student.
- ARIN IU is pleased to offer PBIS Networking Sessions scheduled for September 28, 2022, November 3, 2022, January 26, 2023 and March 23, 2023 from 9:00am - 3:00pm at our ARIN office. These networking sessions are recommended for PBIS core team members and administration.
The IU28 Regional SW-PBIS Networking sessions are designed to support Innovative Practices within the PaPBIS Network. The purpose of these meetings will be to support Indiana and Armstrong County Districts School-Based Coaches and Teams of School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) in their ability to guide leadership teams in the most current practices surrounding SWPBIS implementation. Additionally, materials and resources will be shared to build and enhance the development of a sustainable PBIS Framework and to target areas for growth and expansion.

ARIN Intermediate Unit is offering a one day training, Social Emotional Wellbeing, on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 8:30am-3:30pm at the ARIN office. During this training, we will be looking at both the educator’s social and emotional wellbeing, as well as that of his or her students. This is an area of concern that has been on the rise since the start of the COVID pandemic, and one that is critical in order for academic learning to take place. If educators do not take care of their own social and emotional needs then it is hard for them to address these needs effectively in their students. This training will take time to look at both educators and students, strategies and routines they can implement in their classrooms, and finally, signs to watch for in our students regarding mental health concerns.
- Multi-tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that helps schools provide academic and behavioral support for students. Teams who have current systems in place and those who are interested in building these systems in their schools or school districts are invited to attend these networking sessions.
The ARIN Intermediate Unit will offer inter-district collaboration to include Principals, Teachers, Speech and Language Clinicians, School Psychologists and/or other professionals who are currently working to build a Multi Tiered System of Support in their school system.
We will meet over three sessions from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the ARIN Main Office. The morning will begin with a welcome and new learning, lunch will be on your own, and the afternoon will allow for teams to collaborate. Participants will earn five Act 48 credits.
Date: Focus for Discussion:
October 26, 2022 Assessment through the tiers
Jan 4, 2023 Matching needs to Interventions
May 17, 2023 Effective Data Team Meetings
- ARIN IU is pleased to offer a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training scheduled on October 31, 2022 from 8:30am - 3:30pm at our ARIN office. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. This 6.5 hour in-person gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. This training is particularly important to offer at this time as we are all navigating the challenges related to COVID-19. As we return to in person learning, it is likely that teachers and other school staff will engage with increased numbers of students who report and demonstrate changes in mood as well as more intense feelings of anxiety and stress. This training is designed to help any adults in your school community who work or interact with young people.
- ARIN IU is pleased to offer Family Engagement Networking Sessions scheduled for November 2, 2022, January 10, 2023 and March 29, 2023 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at our ARIN office. These networking sessions are recommended for PBIS core team members, administration, and anyone else interested in improving family/school relationships.
The IU 28 Family Engagement Networking sessions are designed to support all of the IU 28 member schools with getting families involved with the schools and their children’s education. Participants will learn ways to support and improve relationships between family and school.
- ARIN Intermediate Unit is offering a one-day training, Differentiated Instruction for All, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 9:00am-3:00pm at the ARIN office. This session is a part of ARIN’s “Getting to Distinguished Series” for 2022-2023 and supports the Danielson Framework in Domain 1: Planning and Preparation. Specifically, category 1e, “Designing Coherent Instruction”, is the focus of this training opportunity. This training is geared toward general education teachers with full inclusion within their classroom. We will look at what teachers are required to do legally, but also how teachers can differentiate instruction to meet the needs of their learning support students along with the students who are learning at a much higher level. Participants will explore ways to make sure all students are showing growth. Participants will also explore IEPs and GIEPs.
